Teacher Appreciation Month Spotlight: Katelyn Sugar of Arnold Mill ES!

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Month, we’re celebrating a school 2025 Teacher of the Year each day!  Fourth-grade math teacher Katelyn Sugar, a 17-year educator, is the Teacher of the Year for Arnold Mill Elementary School.

“Although they have very different learning styles, one with lots of struggles and one for whom everything comes easy, Mrs. Sugar created an equally positive learning environment for both of my children,” the parent of two former students shared.  “My daughter is dyslexic and has always struggled in school.  Mrs. Sugar was the first teacher to make her feel successful and excited about math.  If you ask my daughter, she will tell you that Mrs. Sugar was the best teacher she has ever had and she compares every subsequent math teacher to her.  Her teaching style bridges the gap between learning and the child’s feeling of success.  My daughter may not have always gotten a perfect grade, but she always left feeling successful and supported.”
